Step 1: Which age group to target?
Well there is genres under picture books and those are:
- Baby Books (0-1 yr)
- Toddler Books (1-3 yrs)
- Picture Books (4-8 yrs)
- Early Picture Books ( The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle)
- Easy Readers (6-8 yrs, color illustrations on every page, 40-60 pages, averaging 2-5 sentences each page)
- Transition Books (6-9 yrs, bridge the gap between easy readers & chapter books. 30 pages long at most. Early Chapter Books is another word used for this type. Difference is the chapters are only 2-3 pages long.)
- Chapter Books (7-10 yrs, Ramona" books by Beverly Cleary is an example. 40-60 pages)
- Middle Grade Books (8-12 yrs, 100-150 pages)
- Young Adult (12 and Up Yrs. 130-150 pages)
